Property Billing

As a taxpayer, you have the responsibility to verify that your payment is being made on the correct property description. The tax amounts listed on the tax notice are levied on the property described at the top of the tax bill and are for the indicated tax year.

  • Please note that failure to receive a tax bill or failure to deliver timely tax payment does not waiver interest or penalty charges.
  • Please make checks or money orders payable to Onondaga Township. All checks are accepted as conditional payment until the check clears the bank.
  • Please submit the tax bill with your payment and include your telephone number on the check.

Tax Payments

  • Summer: Summer Taxes are payable on July 1 to September 14, 2023. After September 14, 2023, interest of 1% added. After February 28, 2024 an additional 3% penalty will be added. See delinquent tax information for taxes paid on or after March 1.
  • Winter: Winter taxes are payable December 1, 2023 to February 28, 2024.
  • Tax Notice: After March 1 taxes are due at the Ingham County office.
  • Taxes may be dropped in the black drop box out front of township offices.
  • Taxes may be mailed to the Onondaga Township office address:

  • If a receipt is requested please send a stamped envelope.
  • Always send your tax bill with your payment.
  • If paying by cash please have the exact amount..
  • Summer Taxes, if still due, are not included in the winter bill.

Deferments

Seniors, Farmers, and other qualifying taxpayers can defer Summer Taxes if they qualify. Applications must be filed before Sept 16th. Please contact the Onondaga Township Treasurer’s Office at (517) 628-2654 or e-mail us at treasurer@onondgatownship.org to determine if you qualify. You may also want to consult the Michigan Department of Treasury website for details.

Delinquent Taxes

  • Personal Property Taxes are a Secured Lien under Michigan law (p.a. 206 of 1893, as amended; mcl 211.40) and are superior to other liens, including those recorded with the Michigan Secretary of State under the Uniform Commercial Code. Tax liens do not have to be recorded with the Michigan Secretary of State
  • Delinquent Real Property Taxes (land and structures):
  • On March 1st each year, delinquent real property taxes must be paid (with interest and penalties) to:

  • Please call (517) 676-7220 for the current amount due.
  • On March 1 each year, current personal property taxes remain, plus interest and penalties, are payable to the Onondaga Township Treasurer’s Office.

Delinquent Personal Property Taxes (business equipment)

  • Please call (517) 628-2654 or email treasurer@onondagatownship.org for the correct amount of taxes due (including interest and penalties).
